Basin Ag Research Center Field Day - Pendleton
The OSU Columbia
Basin Agricultural Research Center will have its Pendleton Field Day on
Tuesday, June 11. The Field Day will begin with registration and refreshments
at 8:15 a.m.
Morning tours of
field experiments will be from 9:00 to 12:00 p.m. Topics include:
- Winter Barley
Trials - Pat Hayes, OSU
- Resistance to
Cephalosporium Stripe and Strawbreaker Foot Rot - Chris Mundt, OSU
- Screening Common
and Club Wheat for Bunt Resistance - Mary Verhoeven, OSU
- Annual Spring
Cropping - Don Wysocki and Sandy Ott, OSU
- Herbicide Evaluation
in Garbonzo Beans - Darrin Walenta, OSU
- Downy Brome Controls
in Winter Wheat - Dan Ball, OSU
A lunch hosted by
local agribusiness will be served at 12:00. Afternoon field tours will
commence at 1:00 p.m. and feature:
- Club Wheat Breeding
and Statewide Variety Testing - Mike Moore, OSU
- Mow-Plow Demonstration
and Measuring Changes in Soil Organic Matter - Dale Wilkins, John Williams,
Clude Douglas and Steve Albrecht, USDA-ARS
- Tillage Pan Formation
- John Baham and Said Al-Ismaily, OSU
- The Northwest
Rainfall Simulator - John Williams, USDA-ARS
- Management Options
for Dryland Foot Rot - Dick Smiley, and Lisa Patterson, OSU
Credits have been
requested for pesticide applicator recertification and Certified Crop
Adviser continuing education. An ice cream social hosted by the Umatilla
County Wheat Growers League will begin at 3:30 p.m. For more information
