Retooling Agriculture
A Report on Direct-Seed Cropping Systems Research in the Pacific Northwest
This new Pacific
Northwest Extension bulletin (PNW553) was developed by a 14-member Steering
Committee of the Pacific Northwest Direct-Seed Cropping System Coalition
led by Dr. R. James Cook, WSU Endowed Chair in Wheat Research. The full-color
42-page publication describes the breadth and depth of public and private
research and extension programs to facilitate the transition to direct-seed
cropping in the dryland farming areas of the Pacific Northwest. Topics
include economics, equipment, soil biology/quality and fertility, pest
management, variety development, and alternate crops. It is fresh off
the press --- published in December 2001.
