Winter Wheat Yields From 1995 On-Farm Tests in Adams County
Jerry Knodel, Tim Smith, Eric Maier, Randy Gust, and Bill Schillinger ObjectiveTo obtain better information on the performance of winter wheat varieties in low-rainfall dryland areas under actual field conditions. Location: Several
farms in Adams county, Washington TreatmentsLewjain, Eltan, Madsen, Rely, Rhode, and Tres were each planted in single drill strips 750 to 2500 feet long at four locations. Winter wheat plots were seeded in September under very dry seed zone conditions. Rainfall during the growing season was 3 inches higher than average. Data
ConclusionEltan produced the highest overall yield. Rely and Lewjain placed in second and third place but were not statistically different from Eltan. Eltan produced significantly more grain than the three lowest yielding varieties: Tres, Rhode, and Madsen. The yield ranking of varieties in 1995 was identical to our 1994 results (note: Rhode replaced Rod in 1995). Funding for this study was generously provided by the Lincoln-Adams Crop Improvement Association. |
